We are told, time after time, that we should move more, exercise more, not be lazy. But why are so many of us not getting the results we want? Could it be because muscles are more heavy than fat? Quick answer: yes, muscle cells are more heavy than fat cells. But what about food? It looks like the subject it changed from diet to exercise by the food industry. The idea that we can lose weight by exercising has never been proven. But please don't cancel your subscription at the gym right away. There are many proven benefits for exercising. Recently the UK's Academy of Medical Royal Colleges reported that exercise is more powerful than many drugs. They found that 30 minutes of moderate exercise five times a week can reduce the risk of:
A brisk walk that makes you slightly sweaty and slightly out of breath is all it takes. They also noted that dancing, cycling, and even sex can bring dramatic health benefits. Bottom line? Continue to get your exercise for a ton of health benefits. But for weight loss, eat a healthy, whole food, low carbohydrate diet. What are your best ways to lose weight? Is it working out?
