Yep, it's here again. Sint Maarten. Children love it ofcourse, but I haven't met a parent who is actually happy about the candy part of the celebration. Today we are going to try a new idea: swap your candy for money. Say 5 or 10 cent for each candy. Our 11 year old is not too impressed and wants the candy, our younger one would have been impressed if the older would have. It may work for other kids? Another parent has another solution. From day one it has been clear in her family that all 'coloured' hard candy (bad candy as she calls it) is banned. All 'good' candy is allowed, such as chocolates, marshmallows, twix etc.
